Transformation – Making our Old Life and an Old Home New Again

December 2, 2014 by doghouseranch

Dog House RanchAfter many years traveling for work, and living in the suburbs for kids, it’s now time for us to, well, live for us. It’s time for transformation.

We sold the house in Walnut Creek, CA, a house we loved, but it was too much to maintain, and have moved to Nevada City, CA, one of the 19 most beautiful small towns in America.

The Dry GullyDog House Ranch is a property just outside of town. It’s an out of date ranch house, built in the late ’70s, that sits on 4.3 acres in Gold Country.

It’s a property with a lot of potential.

This site will record the transformation from old to new again. Learn what we learn from the renovation, and from updating the landscape and garden.

It will be fun.

Join us on our adventure, our transformation.

A Little About Us

We've led an interesting life, a life together that's informed and formed us. It started in Canada, rural Ontario for James and suburban Toronto for Nancy. James' work took us to Caracas Venezuela for three years, then Madrid Spain for four years, and two wonderful children, followed by Chicago for nine years, and now California, for fourteen years. The kids are out on their own, and doing great, so now it's our time.

Dog House Ranch represents much more than a house and some land in Gold Country; it's our opportunity to draw on our experiences and explore our interests in design, food, and permaculture.
